I'm more of a Canon enthusiast but I think the D40 is a good choice. ;)

For your macro shots, you may want to get yourself a dedicated macro lens.

A wide-angle will also help in your architectural/landscape shots but that all depends on how you want to approach your shot composition.

Hi everyone!

I don't know how many of you guys are into DSLR. But I'm planning to buy my first one. Something that'll last for about 3-4 years maybe. Im eyeing for the Nikon D40x, as an entry level. You guys have any suggestions? I've used SLR back then. I'm using a simple digicam as of the moment, and I'm planning to move on to doing more shots.

I do lots of landscape, architectural, and macro shots. I prefer natural light. Budget is 20-30k.

Hope to hear from you people. Just message me! Thanks!

yup. Nabasa ng co-worker ko sa pipho na forum. Nagkataon pa naman, yung kinuhaan nya eh kilalang photographer, so everyone hunted him down..even CP# nya nakuha nila to taunt. He closed his account na...I think. You don't really know if your art gets stolen until someone who knows your works finds it somewhere else. It's a sad, sad thing.

The D80 is defintely more superior over the rebel xti, both in terms of quality, functions and price ( hehehe). The equivalent of the rebel xti is a D40x, its the newest entry level DSLR from Nikon. (Sorry im biased sa Nikon). But it really depends on what you intend to shoot, and more importantly, the LENS you buy. It makes all the difference. I suggest you buy whatever your budget permits, then invest nalang in a good lens! Pero a D80 is great! hehehe

Hi everyone! Just joined the group... was wondering if any of you have some words of wisdom for an aspiring professional digital photographer??? Any book recommendations or websites? For the longest time, I've been using a point-and-shoot Olympus 4.0 megapixal digital. As far as advancing to a DSLR, what
camera(s) should I consider? Based on a bit of research, the Nikon D80 & Canon Digital Rebel XTi look pretty promising. Any suggestions? What are the setbacks to these models??? :d

Another thing, I absolutely love photomanipulation artwork & fractals. Are such only done on Photoshop, or are there other programs for them?
